Sociology Department
The study of Sociology is highly essential and significant in the present era, as it scientifically and systematically examines human society, its structure, institutions, relationships, and processes of change. Human beings are inherently social in nature, and their lives are deeply connected with various social institutions such as family, education, religion, economy, politics, and culture. Sociology helps in analyzing the functions, forms, interrelationships, inequalities, and power structures embedded within these institutions.
The study of Sociology develops critical thinking, social sensitivity, and a rational outlook among students. It enables them to understand social issues such as poverty, unemployment, gender inequality, caste divisions, social justice, globalization, and social change, and to think constructively about their solutions. Sociology empowers individuals to understand the structure of their society and their role within it, thereby helping them become aware and responsible citizens.
In the contemporary global and competitive context, the importance of Sociology has increased even further. The subject offers diverse career opportunities in administrative services, research, teaching, social work, journalism, policy-making, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and developmental sectors. Moreover, the study of Sociology strengthens social harmony, democratic values, and a humanitarian perspective.
For all these reasons, the subject was introduced and established in the institution. Today, the subject experts, through their knowledge and dedication, are shaping the future of students and guiding them toward academic excellence and meaningful careers.
